"A kid on ice is seldom in hot water"

This is the tagline of our rural hockey association, Burnett Youth Hockey. Our rink was rebuilt after a tornado in 2001. This year we have 73 registered skaters who will have nowhere to skate if we are unable to fund new chillers.

Currently, we are in desperate need of a new chiller system and we are starting the “Save Our Rink” fundraising campaign. In total, we need to raise $475,000 to replace our current system. The chillers keep the ice at a steady temperature of 17 degrees, and our system needs to be completely replaced to follow guidelines.

Burnett Youth Hockey Association is a small, rural hockey association located in Siren, WI. Siren is a village of 918 people 90 miles from the Twin Cities. We offer youth hockey and a home rink for our high school team. This offers opportunities for kids in the Siren, Webster, Grantsburg, Frederic & Luck areas to play hockey in a safe indoor environment.

In the winter months, we also offer weekly open skate for the public. This is an inexpensive activity that we are happy to provide the Siren and surrounding communities. Our facility is also available for private rental and we host many school activities/events during the winter months.

We also host 8 tournaments during the winter months. This benefits not only our association but the local economy. In the past, we have hosted teams from Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Canada, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, as well as many Wisconsin teams.

We are looking for any type of donations to help raise the funds for this major upgrade. The new system is not only needed, but it will be much more efficient in the following years to continue to provide an indoor ice arena for our community.
