Nala’s Emergency Surgery

Please help me fundraise to cover the
cost of her surgery.

If you know me, you know Nala is my world. She is the kindest and sweetest dog ever. Everyone who meets her, falls in love with her. She is simply a gift come true. 

At around 2am on Sunday (10/18) Nala had to be rushed to the emergency room. She had been vomiting nonstop for 2 hours, and all of a sudden she also started having diarrhea. She couldn’t even walk, so they carried her in. The doctor took Xrays and gave her ivy fluids but she couldn’t determine the cause of the inflammation in her intestine. Only that it is much larger than it should be.

After two xrays and an ultrasound, they found she has a foreign object in her small intestine. She can’t poop it on her own and its too far in for noninvasive abstraction. They must perform surgery.

They actually found 3 foreign objects, 2 in the stomach and 1 in the colon.

Because the surgery is very invasive and she is an older dog and larger, the cost of the surgery has been estimated between $10,500-12,000.

I have paid a deposit of $8500 so she can have the surgery and an additional $2000 fir post care. I don’t have $8500-10,500. Thus I took our a CareCard and a friend helped me pay the rest. 

Surgery went well but they wanted to keep her past the three days I paid, and I couldn’tafford another $2000. They discharged herthat same day.  They still charged an additional $1000 for meds & fluids. 

As of 10/20 evening she is home & resting. 

We are developing a routine where she sleeps every two hours and wakes up because she pooped or wants to go poop. If its the later, she tells me and we go outside. I’ve taken a couple days off work to focus on her.

She still isn’t eating on her own and the hospital forced fed her with a tube. I’m praying she’ll want to eat soon. She did want water last night and drank a lot on her own. 

Nala still thinks she is a puppy. She doesn’t realize she is older. She is truly the joy of my life and has been for the past 13 years.
