UPDATE: Thank you everyone for your support. We are in awe of all your generous donations. Annie continues to struggle daily and all your support has helped to lift her spirits. Please continue to pray for her recovery and share her story. Let her story help bring awareness to not driving while distracted.

On November 17th 2019 Annie was crossing the street between two horse crossing signs while on horseback. Both Annie and Copper (her horse) were hit by a car while someone was speeding, distracted, and not paying attention at all to the road. The car hit them both at full speed without even slowing down or braking. Annie's friend Jennifer was with her, walking right in front of them both, and barely escaped being struck as well. As Jennifer watched in terror, Annie and Copper were thrown about 30 feet in the air landing on the pavement and concrete. Jennifer throught Annie was dead, while Copper struggled in the road dying. Annie was knocked unconscious while wearing her helmet. Copper, a lineback dun that was only ten years old, died just minutes after the accident along side of the road before the emergency vet could arrive. The paramedics and doctors keep saying it was a miracle Annie is alive from this accident as the impact from both car and ground could have easily killed her. Copper took the brunt of the hit which unfortunately is why he is no longer with us. We are so grateful that Copper saved Annie’s life that day and her love for him will always be with her.

Annie was rushed to Chandler Regional Trauma Center to assess her injuries. As a result of the accident, Annie may never ride again without pain due to intense pain from the fractures to her spine. We don't know if the nerve damage is short term and her memory hasn't fully returned yet. She is pushing through a tremendous amount of emotional damage from this accident and the loss of a loved horse and mobility.  We are hoping there will be no further complications and we continue to pray that Annie’s body will heal properly in hopes she can ride a horse again as riding and animals are her passion. She is incredibly strong and still has a long road ahead to her recovery.

Annie doesn't have any family that lives in Arizona, which has made this very difficult on her and her immobility to do things for herself.  It is in times like this that the strength and support of the community is really needed.

The person who hit Annie and Copper does not have enough insurance to even come close to covering all her medical costs not to mention all the other expenses that has developed because of this accident.

As the medical expenses continue to pile up, the loss of income, and the daily pain she faces, we are asking those who are able to help please donate whatever you can afford as no contribution is too small.  The goal is just to have everyone participate even if you are unable to donate please share the link with all your friends, family, or anyone who connects to this story and can help.  Let's help to lighten the load, even a little, for Annie.

We hope this tragic story also helps brings awareness on how important it is to pay attention while driving and not be distracted, follow the speed limit and pay attention to all warning and traffic signs on the road.  This was a preventable tragedy that could have easily been avoided.

All the funds we receive will go directly to Annie in one way or another to cover her expenses, whether it be medical, food, housing, etc.

We are so grateful for all the love, prayers, and support that Annie has received already.

Thank you in advance for all your support.
