I started this campaign for my family.  It’s crazy to think about the cards we have been dealt in the last couple months. It all started at the beginning of April when my mom was in a car accident with my then 6 month old nephew.  My mom broke her sternum & tore her rotator cuff. Thank God my nephew was ok.

Not even a week later my dad was hospitalized & we got the devastating news that he could have pancreatic cancer. His official diagnosis came on April 13 and we lost him on June 23.

My mom is on a leave from work since her accident & unable to do much with her right arm. She had her surgery on 5/30 and needs over 3 months of rehab.

I live across the country from my family and came home to help both parents with medical needs.  
I thought it would be for about 6 weeks to get my dad started on treatment & to help after mom’s surgery. Unfortunately, I’ve been home for 11 weeks now and not receiving pay since the 6 week mark. I had to stay with my family as my dad’s health was declining rapidly and he passed on June 23. I’m still with my family to help them go through my dad’s belongings. Also helping as they will have to move soon as they cannot afford the rental they live in. My sister will be around to help my mom but she has a nine month old son to take care of.

It was very hard for me to start a campaign due to my own pride but my family could really use some monetary help. My parents have always lived paycheck to paycheck. Now that my mom is out of work she isn’t getting very much for her leave. Taking anything away from people that need every dollar hurts them. Plus, she will be out of work for quite some time. It would be great to take some of the financial burden away from my mom. She has enough to worry about after losing her husband of over 40 years.
