Passing of Tom Hamilton
On March 21, 2015 Tom Hamilton and his close friend were caught in the path of an avalanche while snowmobiling near McBride, BC. They both lost their lives in this tragic event.
The Kinsmen Club of Ponoka and our community is mourning the loss of prominent Kinsmen and community member, Tom Hamilton. During the past 7 years with the Kinsmen, Tom has taken on many key roles in our club. Tom moved his way through several positions in the Club including President from 2011-2013. As Co-chair of the Ponoka Kinsmen Recreation Park, he was instrumental in establishing the new toboggan hill. At our meeting the evening of March 23, 2015, and at the behest of Tom’s family, a decision was made to dedicate the toboggan hill in his memory. Donations can be made to the Tom Hamilton Memorial Hill through the Kinsmen Club of Ponoka and our GoFundMe link.
Tom was a dedicated family man. Very outspoken and energetic. When Tom saw a target, he always worked hard and efficiently in reaching his goals. He had a passion for living to the letter of the law, whether it was Club rules or working in the store, dotting his i’s and crossing his t’s. He came by these traits honestly through his father Jim. He will be truly missed. Our thoughts are with his family – wife Amanda, children Kaitlin and James, Grandmother Peggy, father Jim, Mother Jonnette, sister Amy and brother Declan.
Please help us create a legacy that will last a lifetime.
