Story

Please consider helping my sister/friend and her family, the Horrocks’ family. Nanette and Rod have been married for 25 years and have two beautiful daughters, Ralee and Bridget. Ralee has a family of her own and Bridget is a senior in high school. Three months ago their father, Rod, was diagnosed with stage four small cell cancer. Unfortunately, the cancer has spread throughout Rod’s body and bones. The biggest concern, at this time, is the tumor located at the base of his brain. If the tumor continues to grow, it could cause a stroke and make an already bad situation much worse. The doctors are treating the cancer aggressively with chemo and radiation, it had shrunk and it is promising he will make it to see Bridget’s graduation walk. With this illness comes an incredible amount of expense. Rod works for their church part time and is quickly running out of sick and vacation hours. In between treatments he attempts to go to work to help out at home. Nanette is managing everything else and is getting help from friends, family and her church. Nanette works full time and also has a side business in which she has pursed more business to cover regular costs as well as medical costs. They have health insurance but they do self pay for it. She switched jobs a year ago and they lost their disability and life insurance plans; now they can not get one. Needless to say she stays faithful, positive and always smiling facing it all. She knows God always has a plan. Bridget has worked for years, training relentlessly and exercising extreme self-discipline to become a professional ballet dancer. She auditioned with several dance companies and has been given the opportunity dance this summer at two ballet schools. The first one is Arizona Ballet and the second is Boca Ballet. Each school will audition her all summer. Arizona already accepted her in a company two (2) position. Boca Ballet has four (4) directors from four (4) different ballet companies that will be training and auditioning her, they include Cincinnati Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Richmond Ballet and Ballet West. Boca Ballet only chooses 32 dancers nation wide to attend this summer school and Bridget was one of them. The family has been saving and planning in order to make Bridget’s dream a reality. We would love to help them keep the dream alive for Bridget and are reaching out to friends and family to make this happen. We would also like to reach out to anyone who owns a business and wants to sponsor her.If you know Rod, you know he is always quick with a joke and loves to have a good time. He loves his family and there is nothing he would not do for them. He has supported them in every venture and adventure that they’ve chosen to take on. When he is not cooking dinner for his family or working in the yard, he enjoys fishing. They are a family that has made it through the good and the difficult times, with this being the most difficult. He wants nothing more than for Bridget to be able to attain her goals and reach her dreams. The financial burden that comes with this illness is tremendous.
