Since being established in 1922, Tolka Rovers has played a significant role in a number of local communities across North Dublin, including Glasnevin, Ballymun, Finglas and Whitehall.
Tolka Rovers is the home to a number of sports clubs, societies and community groups in the area, and is a club steeped in history.
On the club’s state-of-the-art football pitch, Tolka Rovers Football Club is one of Ireland’s oldest and most decorated amateur football clubs, and has produced a number of players who have made careers within the game and represented their country.
Aside from soccer, Tolka Rovers hosts basketball, bowls, darts, badminton, dancing, pool, knitting and futsal (indoor football). Tolka Rovers has won various competitions across all the aforementioned sports, with teams starting at aged six, all the way up to senior citizens. The clubs offers something for every fraction within the community.
Our fundraising committee are responsible for raising club funds, as well as fundraising for events that support vulnerable members within our community. One of the main fundraising events running for many years now is the senior citizens Christmas party. We work hard all year to raise money to supply our senior citizens in the community with a full Christmas dinner and live entertainment for a day.
However, Tolka Rovers is a non-profit organisation, and due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our club is now at risk. We rely on our club lotto and bar/event space to help cover the costs of maintaining and running our club. Since the Government lockdown was announced in March, we have had no income and our doors have unfortunately remained firmly shut. We are now at a point where we need to make a decision for the long-term health of our club, and we need your help!
We would be eternally grateful if you could donate anything, big or small. It will go a long way to ensuring Tolka Rovers’ survival, while also remaining an important player in the local community. The club celebrates its 100th birthday in two years’ time, and we really hope to enjoy this occasion with all of our former and current members and supporters.
Thanks for all your help!
