My name is Blake Loomis. I have had seizures since I was two years old the doctors called them absence seizures. I would stare off into space between one and three minutes and then come back around. I was brought to the doctor where they treated it with many different medications. When I turned seven I started to have grand maul seizures. I would black out, shake and my body would stiffen up. These seizures would last between three and five minutes. When I would come out of them I wouldn't know who anyone was and what happend. At the age of seventeen the grand maul seizures got worse and they were happening every six months to a year. I would go in for a regular yearly check up with my neurologist and only come out and have my medication dose raised. This caused me to have many break through seizures. They were like absence seizures and my eyes would twitch. I finally decided at twenty-two that something else had to be out there. After help from my family I found a different neurologist and finally found some answers. I found out that I am bilateral my seizures come from either side of my brain. I will be going through further tests to find out the exact location of my seizures. These tests and surgery will take place at the Mayo Clinc in Rotchester, Minnesota. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to live a seizure free life. And be able to say goodbye to the medications forever. I am asking you to help me be seizure free.
