Dad has always been a true fighter and is now fighting his toughest battle...
This past May our Dad, Stacy Adams, suddenly became ill with what seemed like an ordinary flu.
However, after almost a month in bed and losing nearly 15lbs, it became very clear that this was more than the typical stomach flu.
Upon urging from our mother, Vivian, our dad scheduled a visit to the doctor. After 9 days in the hospital, dozens of tests, and multiple specialists, it confirmed that he was not ill with the flu, but rather "Valley Fever", a fungal infection of the lungs common in the Phoenix area.
Although doctors were somewhat concerned Dad may have other underlying issuing which they were unable to confirm conclusively.
Dad was placed on medication with an expected recovery time of 2-3 months.
Unfortunately, this was not the case at all. In spite of his health improving over the first 30-45 days, increasing appetite, and gaining back 7lbs, Dad suddenly took a turn for the worse.
Within 60 days, he developed a severe skin rash that covered nearly 90% of his body, he lost the weight he had regained, and his symptoms became much worse.
What began with slight fatigue developed into severe fatigue and shortness of breath, such that after taking just a few steps, Dad would feel, in his words "Like I just ran a marathon."
He began to experience constant shortness of breath, chills, and difficulty regulating his body temperature.
Mom became increasingly concerned as Dad wasn't eating much and losing even more weight to the point of appearing visibly thin in contrast to his usual slim, but athletic physique from training in martial arts 3-4 times per week.
Upon a return visit to the doctor, dad was again hospitalized and after several days, remains there even now (as of 10/12/2020).
Dad is under the care again of multiple doctors and specialists who are trying to determine the underlying causes or causes of his condition.
His skin is extremely dry and fragile due to the rash, he his on oxygen 24/7 to help relieve his shortness of breath, and the doctors are concerned that his foot condition (that he has lived with in pain for 20+ years) may, in fact, have been misdiagnosed.
The road to recovery and full healing will be a long one (likely 6-12+ months) and we are raising these funds to ensure that Dad & Mom make a full physical and financial recovery.
Dad is a father, husband, and fighter. A 2nd degree black belt and instructor to men, women, & children, he will continue to fight the battle raging in his body.
We, his family--8 children, 11+ grandbabies, 4 kids-in-law, and our Mom ask you to fight on his behalf with a financial gift to help cover the mounting expenses due to Dad being unable to work.
Mom works part-time, but does not earn enough to cover their monthly basic expenses.
We, the kids, are all pitching in to help as much as we can. Some of us have even recently gotten a job or sidework (driving for Uber) to help raise money for Mom & Dad.
Will you help support Dad & Mom?
Thank you in Advance,
Amir (oldest child) on behalf of the Adams Kids
