On Tuesday, September 14, 2021, Jordy sustained life-threatening injuries by a hit-and-run driver and barely survived. He suffered multiple severe injuries including head and body lacerations, a dislocated paw, his front right leg was split open from top to bottom from the impact of the hit. He suffered severe loss of blood, muscle, and tissue. Jordy was rushed to the Veterinary Emergency Group in Greenburgh, NY. The staff were extremely professional and did all they could to stabilize him. However, due to the extreme injuries, Jordy was rushed by ambulance to the Guardian Veterinary Group in Brewster, NY to be treated by orthopedic surgeons to try to save his life and leg. Unfortunately, due to the amount of muscle and tissue loss in his leg, reconstruction was not viable, and the surgeons had to fully amputate his front right leg, but Jordy survived!
Jordy is still in the hospital and making a slow recovery. Jordy is only 3 1/2 years old and hopefully has many healthy happy years ahead. Jordy is broad chested and over 65% of his body weight is carried on his front leg. This fund is to help pay for the veterinary, hospital, and rehabilitation bills. This fund is also to raise money for a full prosthetic leg to ease the burden of carrying his weight on his other injured leg. So please, find it in your heart to donate as much as you can. All money raised from this fund will go directly to Jordy’s care and medical bills and will hopefully help ease the unexpected financial burden on the Kaplan family.
