Support Janus' Family After Eviction Notice

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Janus. I'm a physically disabled, autistic transmasc who moved to the Philadelphia area over a year ago in hopes of escaping an abusive household and building a safer life, but unfortunately I now find myself facing the very real and scary possibility of having to return to my parents house over 6 hours away from the life I've managed to build.

My household includes four people, one of whom is an elderly diabetic and disabled man, and four cats. Just today, we received a 30-day notice, not notarized or delivered through any official legal process, demanding that we leave our home by July 31st, 2025.

This notice came after we were forced to call the fire department when our house began filling with smoke from an unknown source. It turned out that the water heater in the basement, which we believed had been properly serviced by our landlords, was overheating due to lack of maintenance. Although we had planned to tell our landlords about the incident ourselves, they heard about it from a neighbor first and, without giving us a chance to explain, issued the eviction notice. The reason they gave was that we were "careless" and that they no longer trusted us to live in the home where my roommate and their husband and father and law have been for over 12 years at this point, and myself nearing a year and a half.

We were never given the opportunity to explain what happened, or to clarify that we acted out of concern for everyone's safety, including our animals. Instead, we were met with harsh words and a poorly written eviction notice from our maga-loving landlords that has left us scrambling to try and scrape together enough money and resources to leave.

We're doing everything we can to find an apartment or house that we can afford, but the cost of even applying to some of these places is very expensive, not even considering the security deposits, pet fees, storage unit rentals and moving equipment if we do find a place that will accept us. Our world has been completely flipped upside down, and there's a financial barrier to every possible route we can take.
Any support, whether that’s helping us share our story, financial help, or even just kind words, would mean the world right now.
