Hi, my name is Tamara and I am trying to raise money to help pay for Lavender’s care. Lavender is our dear bunny who is a special part of our family for the last two and a half years. A couple days ago Lavender started to show some signs of pain which progressed into trouble breathing last night. This morning I rushed him to the vet where he was given oxygen and pain medication while they tried to determine the cause. He is home under close supervision now, however we unfortunately have not identified what is causing him distress and his x-rays did show us any definite indicators. His medical bill for today was $1,600. At this point we do not know if he will need to go back for breathing help again tomorrow (if he makes it through the night) as he is still really struggling to breathe and is in a lot of pain. I am asking for any help towards paying today’s bill off of my credit card so that there is space for possible future treatment or pain relief. I’m praying that euthanasia isn’t the end of Lavender’s story, but if he doesn’t improve quickly that may sadly be recommended (at another cost of course). Any help is so appreciated.
Love,
Lavender’s Family <3
UPDATE: July 30, 00:30hrs
It has been a very difficult few days, but Lavender is currently eating hay on his own for the first time! Thank you everyone for your support. Your prayers and contributions are still greatly appreciated as we continue to work towards a full recovery for our bunny so that he can enjoy many more years with our family
UPDATE #2: August 5, 2025, 10:00hrs
Lavender has fully recovered his lung capacity and appetite and is just resting a lot to regain his energy, but is in good spirits! Unfortunately, 8-year-old Purry Girl caught his virus last week and has now declined to the suffering that Lavender went through at his worse. I held her for hours last evening, assisting her to breathe, before finally giving her comfort medicine and letting the family say good bye to her at bedtime, nor expecting her to last long. She surprised us and did pull through the night. Today she is letting me try to syringe feed her a bit of critical care rescue feed (as per vet), so please continue to keep us in your thoughts as I go through this Q2hr/24/7 protocol again with my sweet bun.
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, prayed for, and sent messages checking in; my bunnies mean the world to me and the fact that Lavender had come out the other side of this is a big source of hope now.
