Taking a Chance to extend Mike’s life

Donation protected

Hey! My name is Sacha Campbell and I have set up this account for my sweetheart husband, Michael Campbell.

Ours is a unique modern-day love story. While Mike was stationed with the Army in Germany seven years ago, he knew I was the one he was supposed to marry. He flew across an ocean to court me, we fell in love, and ultimately he asked me to marry him. He served 22 years as a combat veteran and has sacrificed his body over and over for the well-being of his family and his country. We became a blended family of 8 children when we married. His 4 boys from his previous marriage, my 1 boy from a previous marriage and the three little ones we've had together; a five year old boy and three year-old twins (a boy and a girl). We love our crazy family!!!

Almost year ago Mike was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called sarcoidosis. It took numerous doctor’s visits, labs, X-rays, MRI’s PET-CT’s, visits to specialist, several biopsies, and a major spinal surgery to determine he had this disease and it was systemic; affecting his lungs, lymph nodes, salivary glands, sinuses, mouth, musculoskeletal system, nerves, heart, liver, and skin.

Typically, this disease is found earlier and does not affect so many systems and organs. Unfortunately for us, it was discovered much later and treatment was started immediately. His initial treatment regime resulted in a severe allergic reaction to one of the drugs. This complicated additional treatments; but one was found and he started that about six months ago; the disease has progressed to the point that his prognosis is terminal, with potentially less than a year under the current treatment plan.

The only other treatment options are considered “experimental” by medical insurance, and therefore not covered; because the drugs are not FDA approved for his disease. Due to the out of pocket expense(s), we are asking for approximately six months’ worth of donations to help pay for these other treatment options and medical costs associated with the required specialists involved (Rheumatology, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Internal Medicine, and Dermatology).  The out of pocket cost of the treatments alone are approximately $4,600 - $22,700 per month; depending on which treatment plan is used. Ironically, research shows that the treatment plan whose cost is $22,700 per month is the most effective and has the least catastrophic side effects (such as lymphoma, other types of cancers or malignancy and sudden blindness).

Mike is my love and he is the center of our family. We have gone through what feels like 20 years in our 7 years together, with many trials, overcoming, and learning to walk together. We are not done!! We need more time to make memories that are filled with joy and hope. I am asking for this assistance to provide us the opportunity for Mike to see his children grow up, go to college, get married, have children; and to give him the opportunity to grow old with me, falling in love for another 30+ years.  We are grateful for all we have been given and we are so thankful for your support!

We would love your prayers and however you feel prompted to spread the word. Thank you! *If you would prefer to Venmo, you can donate to @Sacha-Campbell to avoid fees
