Hi, I'm Dakota. Im a 24 y/o new construction plumber in central NY.
On Monday night my car was stolen... With that my entire livelihood. Everything I own and everything I call my "life." From my wallet, gym bag and headphones to my Seadoo key and car manual... they took everything, even the floor mats. The hardest part was losing my tools that I spent over 4 years building and over $12,000 on.
I grew up in lower middle class America- the one where the little guy pays and pays, constantly at the mercy of corporate America and their greed. Today that continued when I found out that because my car was recovered (although totaled) my insurance company refuses to reimburse me for the tools stolen and offered me $2,064.17 to get my jeep into "operable" condition because of "inflation and depreciation."
I'm at a complete loss, plumbing is my life.
Without my tools or vehicle I have no way to do my job, continue my career, put food on my table, pay my bills, etc. I'm about to lose even more.
Whatever I'm given, I plan to buy my basic power and hand tools back along with some sort of cheap beater car to keep me going and get back to work.
I don't understand where I went wrong.
I need help, any and all I can get. I've got no where else to turn to. Please.
