Melissa Masserang’s Brave Fight
Donation protected
I am setting up this account with the hope of helping ease the financial burden looming ahead for my sister, Melissa.
Melissa received devastating news that she has Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma…Breast Cancer. It's a scary diagnosis but in true Melissa form, she's stubborn and ready to fight. She'll have an MRI and get her port installed this Friday with chemotherapy starting immediately for 3-4 months. A double mastectomy will follow in September after chemotherapy has been completed and her body has had time to heal.
We are so thankful for the health insurance but lost work time for doctor appointments, chemotherapy, sick days, recovery from surgery and other unexpected expenses will not be covered. She currently works 2 jobs to provide for herself and her girls who all still live at home. She plans to attempt to work during chemo but with the uncertainty of how she will react and the risk of infection she may not be able to work full time. She is independent and would never asks for help from others and allowing me to post this is a huge stretch for her.
If you can help us shower her with financial love, it would be appreciated. If you are uncomfortable with the GoFundMe, you can reach out to me as I will likely set up an account for her. This will be at minimum a year long journey, so I'll start a Caring Bridge page for those who want to follow updates.
Finally, this is IMPORTANT for all woman to know:
Melissa's March 2022 mammogram was NORMAL. She insisted on an ultrasound because she could feel a lump. The tumor was confirmed with an ultrasound and a biopsy confirmed the cancer. If you know something isn't right, then press for answers like Melissa did.
I don't think cancer knows what it's up against with Melissa. She is strong and she's equipping herself for the fight of her life, but she can't do it alone. She needs us too. Please keep her and her girls in your prayers.
