I Need Your Help

It is never easy to ask for help and assistance. Yet, here I am, having to do just that. I can no longer afford to live due to ever-rising medical bills.

Not very long ago, I was taken to the emergency room after becoming very dizzy and almost passing out. While there, it was discovered that my blood pressure was very low – dangerously low. Since that first trip, there have been constant visits to doctors, specialists, and tests run.

One problem that was discovered concerned my kidneys. There is a treatment plan, but that all revolve around the doctors figuring out what is going on with my heart and my blood pressure.

On Sunday, 8 August 2021, I was taken once again to the emergency room. I was walking around UTEP, taking photos with my wife, sister, and nephew, when I was suddenly overtaken by dizziness, fading vision, a tight chest, a hard time breathing. I stopped, sat down and the next thing I know, I’m out.

After my sister roused me and got some water into me, we thought I would be able to make it to the car. That didn’t happen. I was down again, just yards from the vehicle.

When EMS arrived, my blood pressure was shallow, once again. I was given an IV, aspirin and rushed to the ER.

My health insurance is not the best. I couldn’t afford what I had before. So, coverage is lacking, and it seems that almost everything in the county is out of network. That leaves me having to pay the bulk of the bills, ambulance rides, doctors’ visits, tests and medication out of my pocket.

From the first visit to the emergency room, I still owe over $2,000. I still don’t have the final bills from the last three trips, much less yesterday’s visit and hospital admission. I am told that I can expect to pay almost $28,000.

How do I pay those bills and still pay utilities, put food on the table, and cover all the other necessities of life? There is no way.
