Sean Altamore is a 45-year-old who was a hard-working man supporting his family, working overtime every week as a mechanic for the United States Postal Service. He had no idea that when his doctor prescribed a colonoscopy prep it would change his family’s lives forever. The prep dried his blood so severely that it caused a massive stroke to the right side of his brain. Sean was in Overlook Hospital in the brain trauma center for a month, clinging to life. Sean pulled through and was transferred to Kessler, where he’s been for two months for rehab.

Sean‘s PTO that he saved up working overtime every week and never taking any time off is going to be running out. He came home this past Thursday and his needs at home are great. He will soon be losing his health insurance, and his wife, who is self-employed cleaning houses, will have to pay for that. He has not yet been approved for Social Security, and his PTO pay will be running out before the approval, so they will not have any income other than her house cleaning. Sean only has use of his right side and needs an aide to help him from a bed to a wheelchair and into the bathroom. The bathroom had to be made compliant for his wheelchair. The dining room is now his new bedroom, and he still has to go back to Overlook to have his prosthetic skull put back in the right side of his head. They had to remove his skull so that his brain could swell and heal.

Sean was always there for anyone that needed help with their car issues or just to lend a hand. Now he needs our help to get through this difficult time and not loose his house because of his medical needs.
