More information about Friends of PICU: The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital Southampton is the regional specialist 16 bed ward for Southern England and the Channel Islands. 1000 Critically ill Children, newborn to 18years of age are admitted each year and cared for 24 hours a day with 1to1 nursing. The Friends of PICU supports these children and their families by providing vital equipment and services not provided by the statutory authorities and creating a suitable environment for the children to be cared within.

Hi My name is Autumn Wheaton I am raising money for the charity 'Friends of PICU' in Southampton children's hospital.In May 2023 my twin baby sisters were born in Princess Anne NICU in Southampton Children's Hospital . They were born with two Serious health conditions of Transposition of Great Arteries and Cloacal Malformation. My baby sister Poppy was transferred over to PICU in June 2023 to undergo procedures to buy her more time to gain weight whilst she awaited her Arterial switch surgery .Unfortunately during that time she had numerous infections and a stroke. Friends of PICU holds a special place in my heart as they supported Poppy with 1 to 1 nurse care and without the amazing nurses and Doctors my sister might not be alive today . I want to make a difference and raise money to help this incredible charity that cares for children under the age of 16 in intensive conditions. This is my way of saying Thank you.
