Help me see color!
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Devon, I'm 22, and I am colorblind. The whole spectrum of red and green and purple and pink and all the rest are simply not there for me. This makes a couple of things difficult for me, example: stop lights while driving; they all look the same to me, I watch for their position. I can't tell ketchup and chocolate syrup apart without a label, I can't tell when my meat is fully cooked, I even need help to buy my fiancé flowers.
Red/Green colorblind is the most common type of color blindness. This means I have the cones in my eyes necessary for color but the Red/Green cones don't function properly.
I see the world without any red or green.

This is how I see the world.

Apparently these arent the same picture.
Enchroma has just released the most successful color blind corrective glasses to date (video below). They work for around 80% of color blind people. The glasses basically change the way the light gets refracted inside of my eyes and tricks the brain into perceiving color. The only setback is that they are expensive because of all the tricky science stuff that goes into them. They are also more expensive for me because I already wear glasses and will need to purchase colorblindness corrective glasses with my own prescription in the lens as well.
"Valspar Color For The Colorblind"
If I got these glasses I might know what the world really looks like. I don't even know what my fiancés eyes really look like. I want to see what the rest of the world sees as the sun rises. I want to know why red means angry, or why purple seems calm. So many things are mysteries to me, and up until a few days ago, I thought I would never know the answers.
I don't have the money for the lenses, let alone a new frame to go with them, and I feel bad asking people for money, but this would be a life-changing experience for me.
Any amount of donation will help and all of your support will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
-Devon Thompson
