We are Derek and Monica Jones, and we have created this GoFund me for Derek and his younger brother Caleb’s, mother Jackie. If you know Jackie, you know she is very family oriented and loves her children and grand babies more than anything. Over the years, she has sacrificed much of her ambitions and life goals to further the goals and success of her two boys. Jackie sacrificed her career from a young age to be the classroom mom for both her sons. To being their team mom on any of the sports teams both of them played year round while growing up. To being the best stay at home mother she could be, never complaining about her choice to do so. No matter what There wouldn’t be a day that goes by without her laughing with her family and planning one of her beloved family traditions that everyone loved so much. As of recent, much of her life shifted to being the best grandmother she could be for her new grandchildren. However, that happiness was soon hit with devastating news.

About a year ago today we received news that would change everything. She was diagnosed with Small cell lung cancer (SCLC)…the most aggressive form of lung cancer known. Jackie has not given up the good fight and continues everyday fighting through the pain. Until recent, she chose to keep this diagnosis between her immediate family. She was determined to fight the cancer and continue being that mother, wife, and grandmother that she loved to be. Her husband Fred, since finding out about this diagnosis, has had to put work on the back burner to take care of her fully, as he was self-employed.

We are starting this GoFund me to help with the financial burden. Cancer is hard enough to fight as it is, we do not need them to fight the financial struggles at the same time. He is the soul provider for his family and being Jackie’s full time caretaker has not allowed him to work like he could. The recent hit to the economy and inflation has had more of an impact than they were prepared for and the financial stress has become heavy.

We would like to raise $7,500 to assist our family in the financial aspects, so we can enjoy the most time with Jackie so she doesn’t have to worry about finances. We want her to be able time focus on the fight, the healing, her kids & grandchildren and be in this moment without the stress. Even if it’s $5, any donation will help.
