We would like to tell you about Olive-a special girl with special needs- and how God is working in our lives!
In 2014 we completed a two year long adoption process to bring home our first daughter Mirembe from Uganda. Upon returning home from 10 weeks in Uganda we were very anxious and excited to settle into life as a family of 3. We were very much expecting that we would finally take a deep breath and relax after the last 2 long years on an adoption journey. It turns out God had other plans for our family. Shortly after our time in Africa God began to grow our hearts even more for adoption and stretch us further than we ever imagined. A picture of a beautiful girl on a waiting child page captivated our hearts and got us talking...what if. What if God has a bigger plan for our lives than we had for ourselves. What if HE is calling us to open our hearts to children with special needs.
Through much prayer and consideration, we have joyfully said YES to God and his call on our hearts to bring home Olive, a five year old girl living in Africa with cerebral palsy. Olive has lived in a care home her whole life and has never known the love of a mommy and daddy. We feel so honored and blessed to be the family God has chosen to adopt Olive as our daughter. Olive is currently in a wheel chair and receiving very limited medical care and services. Her doctors hope that with surgery Olive may one day regain use of her legs. There is so much to do in preparing to bring Olive home in the fall.
In addition to adoption fee's, legal expenses, and travel costs for a mandatory 6 week trip to Africa there are also fee's for medical equipment and services that Olive will need to transition into her new home. Initially, we thought it may be impossible to accomplish all that needs to be done to bring our daughter home. But God quickly reminded us that with HIM all things are possible. We serve a big God with big plans for our lives and Olives life too. Please be a part of our miracle and help us bring Olive home!
