***UPDATE***
First off, our family would like to thank everyone who has prayed, supported, donated, and kept us in your thoughts during this tough time. We are all grateful and appreciate your love, kindness, and generosity.
For nearly two years, Angelica has battled brain cancer with grit and a fierceness only she possesses. However, the latest prognosis from medical professionals is news we have all feared. Her cancer has progressed, and is accelerating quicker than what treatments can combat.
After countless ups and downs, containing what feels like a lifetime of both hopefulness and heartache, the time has come to prepare final plans for Angelica. In order to host a celebration of life, and conduct a proper memorial, we now ask for aid in funding to do so.
Again, our thanks to you all is unmeasurable.
***UPDATE***

On December 10, 2019, Angelica Madrid, mother of 3, was hospitalized with symptoms of a stroke. Multiple scans revealed a large left lateral frontal intro-axial tumor. Before hospitalization, Angelica worked full time, provided care to her 80 year old mother, and spent every morning and evening studying and cooking with her two preteen sons.

Only days prior to being admitted, she had problems with her speech and right facial drooping. In the hospital, she developed aphasia and was taken to the ED. She was seen by a Neurologist and was immediately admitted by Neurosurgery. Resection and removal of the tumor was accomplished via a 6-hour procedure on 12/16/19. The tumor was nearly removed in its entirety, however, after biopsies it was diagnosed as stage IV Glioblastoma, an aggressive cancer than begins in the brain.
Since the procedure, Angelica has met with a robust team of specialists, including a reputable Neuro-Oncologist. Recommended treatment begins with a rigorous 6 month schedule of Radiation and Chemotherapy, accompanied by a daily cocktail of medication (Temodar, Bactrim DS, Zofran, Zovirax, Insulin, Cozaar, Lopressor, Keppra, Protonix, Decadron, and Crestor.)
Donations will be used to fund the above treatments and medications. Any money raised could also be directed towards therapy, where Angelica hopes to recoup cognitive and muscular abilities.
"Our mom is the strongest woman any of us know. With your love, we will direct all attention to improving her quality of life and level of happiness. Life can change in a heartbeat, and it's impossible to prepare for the situation my mother and our family find ourselves in. With that said, we are believers in prayer, love, and hard work. We thank you for reading our mom's story. If you can find it in the kindness in your heart, join Team Angelica and spread the word!"
