Against All Odds: My Story of Survival and Faith

Today is April 4, 2026, and I am blessed to still be here. Every breath I take is a reminder that God is not finished with me yet. I am alive because of His grace, the relentless dedication of my doctors, and the overwhelming love and generosity of friends, family, and even people I’ve never met. Yes, this fundraiser helps with medical bills and daily needs — but more importantly, I pray my story becomes a light for someone who feels like theirs is going out.

I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, and that diagnosis still stands. Many people don’t realize what stage 4 truly means. It means the cancer has already spread — in my case, to my stomach, sigmoid colon, and liver. Hearing those words shakes your world, but it doesn’t erase the possibility of hope.

My journey began in April 2023 while I was working for a company called good2grow. I kept having severe abdominal pain, and despite multiple ER visits, no one could find the cause. Then in August 2023, they discovered a tumor the size of a grapefruit. I had emergency surgery the next day and was diagnosed as stage 2 with a high risk of spreading.

But the pain returned. By November 2023, I had progressed to stage 4. Doctors told me I had four to six months to live. We even talked about hospice. Chemo didn’t work. It felt like the world was closing in — until God opened one more door. I was tested for immunotherapy, and by His mercy, I qualified. Next week I’ll receive my 28th treatment, and it has been nothing short of life‑changing.

The road hasn’t been easy. I’ve had surgeries for more tumors, kidney stones, and bowel obstructions. I’ve spent more nights in hospital rooms than I can count. But I’m still here. I’m still fighting. And I’m still believing that God has a purpose for my life.

I’m not asking for pity. Illness changes everything — your finances, your stability, your plans, your sense of normal. I lost my job, my car, and so much of the life I once knew. But I didn’t lose my life. I’m living on disability and the kindness of those who have helped me stay afloat. More than anything, I want to return to work. If you know anyone looking for a database developer, I would be grateful for the chance to rebuild.

Along this journey, I’ve met so many others battling cancer. I’ve seen courage, heartbreak, resilience, and loss. I’ve known people who fought with everything they had and didn’t make it. I’ve known others who are terminal right now. When you walk this road, you feel every story deeply.

But here is what I know: cancer is real, the struggle is real, the side effects are real — but so is God’s power. So is hope. So is the miracle of waking up one more day. Not everyone survives, but somehow, by God’s grace, I’m still here. This is my story — one story — but if it brings strength, comfort, or courage to even one person, then it matters.

To everyone who has given, prayed, shared, or simply cared: thank you. God bless you. And if you choose to give after reading this, may God bless you abundantly.
