My name is Alexis and I am asking for your help and generosity for my family. I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy 3 months ago, 3 weeks early due to me developing preeclampsia.. Jesse is suffering from severe infant reflux/GERD and Moderate Pharyngeal Dysphagia. Jesse requires medicine to treat his reflux, and must be held in an upright position as much as possible. He is not able to sleep or play on his back, or even slightly reclined for more than a few minutes at a time and must be closely monitored as he aspirates on his reflux and saliva, this means that liquids can penetrate his airway and enter the lungs potentially resulting in chronic respiratory infections and pneumonia, which can be deadly in infants. He cannot tolerate thin liquids. The acid from his reflux quickly travels up from his stomach, causing acidic irritation to his esophagus and nasal passages... He then chokes on it, and has stopped breathing once before and wound up in the hospital. We have yet to discover the cause of Jesse's Dysphagia, but he will need to see many specialists to come up with a way to diagnose and treat, and could potentially require surgery to correct a Pharyngeal Cleft if that is the cause. In the meantime, his father and I have to take shifts holding Jesse upright, while the other parent sleeps and we have been doing this for months now.
Our family vehicle recently broke down and we have no income coming in, our savings is depleted and we have no way to transport Jesse to his very important doctor's appointments. My fiance tore his ACL and meniscus and has been unable to work since November as he does physical labor. He has surgery coming up and there is an 11 week healing time before he can return to work. On top of that I am still suffering from the aftermath of my preeclampsia and chronic hypertension, and am at high risk for Covid-19 as well as the primary caretaker for our son.
We have applied for whatever assistance we can in the means of food and rent assistance but have so far only received help with heating. WIC has been providing me with very little food as of about a week ago, but it is nowhere near enough to feed 4 mouths. We are fearful of our situation becoming worse or being evicted.
I am asking for your help to raise enough money to replace our vehicle so that Jesse can get the medical care he needs at the very least. Anything extra will be put towards much needed groceries and necessities. Our family is unable to assist us and we have a sick baby, two older children, no vehicle.
Please help if you can, I know times are so tough for everyone right now.
