Cancer has a way of stripping away your pride, leaving you feeling vulnerable, insecure, and scared. Our friend Kim is facing this battle with incredible strength, but the journey ahead is deeply challenging. Recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, the doctors have determined that traditional treatments, like chemotherapy, won’t be effective. She’s considered incurable as the cancer has metastasized in her lymph nodes and adrenal glands and will eventually spread to her brain.
They may try localized chest radiation to control internal bleeding, but the focus now is on keeping Kim comfortable for the time she has left. This includes things like an inhaler to help with breathing, as her lungs press on her bronchial tubes, or a CPAP machine to assist her at night… neither of which are covered by insurance nor CancerCare.
The reality is that her retirement funds won’t be enough to cover her rent, let alone the mounting out-of-pocket expenses for treatments and basic living needs. She’s spent her life working hard—often holding down two jobs just to get by, but still, she barely makes over minimum wage. Now, she’s facing these overwhelming medical challenges without the financial resources or the family support many of us take for granted.
Kim doesn’t have a caregiver, family, or children to lean on. She’s bravely facing this diagnosis alone. That’s why we’re raising money—to provide her with the financial support she desperately needs. Your donations will go directly toward her rent, medical bills, and necessary care that will help make her as comfortable as possible during this difficult time.
Every contribution, no matter the size, is a beacon of hope and support for Kim as she navigates this stage of her life. Let’s come together and show her that she isn’t truly alone in this fight. Thank you for your generosity and for being part of her support system.
