This is a recovery/emergency gofundme for my daughter, Willow Huycke.
On Feb 8th, Willow was hit by another driver in a head-collision. She has a broken wrist, a fractured sternum and had to have surgery to place a long screw in, to fix a spinal fracture
I will let her tell her story in her own words,
"So on my way to Brighton from Trenton just passed Walmart, I got hit by a car from the opposite lane doing 80km flipping my car over four times before hanging me upside down for 20minutes. This happened Thursday night around 6:20pm my seatbelt and car literally saved my life. And thankfully they’re was an off duty officer living right by the scene who was the first one to come save me. I can’t thank him enough for saving me.
I should not be alive right now but I am, and I’m so thankful that I am. My lower back, my right wrist and my sternum are all broken. I’ve never been in so much pain before. I had surgery done to my back and wrist yesterday…
I haven’t walked yet since the accident. So I’m a little scared honestly but I know that the great staff here at Kingston Hospital are doing everything they can to help me recover. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers❤️"
She is through the surgery and recovering well and in good spirits all things considered. That is a gift. She has a long road to recovery ahead though and that is filled with some uncertainty, to be sure, at this point.
Rent, bills and kitty food are things that keep coming each month in the hospital or not.
We aren't sure about what she will need to recover going forward and are currently still gathering information about potential rehab and therapy needs. We do know that it looks like rehab and therapy are things we are going to be exploring in her recovery.
As things become clearer I will certainly update this page to reflect the situation. This happened on Feb 8th and we are Feb 12th today.
I appreciate you folks taking the time to read this, if you can help it will only go to helping her get through this and get back on her feet.
I set a goal of $5000.00. Funds will be used towards four months of rent to help her ease that stress at least. Her share of rent is $1000.00/month. The recovery period is estimated around four months if all goes perfectly well.
This would give her a tiny bit of breathing room. Again she has bill and three kitties to look after still as well and we simply don't know yet what she might need going forward.
However any help is help and getting this help would be a massive win for my little girl after this awful event.
She had just started a new job and should have one to go right back to once she is up and on her feet again.
If this was something that could be taken care of internally it would be but it isn't and so I am here to attempt to appeal to generosity of the community to help my gal, while we figure out her recovery path.
Thank you all so very much for your time and help.
I will keep this updated as details emerge further.
