Smiles of Strength - Luke's Journey

Luke's family was told he would never walk or talk again and would most likely be in a vegetative state for the rest of his life, after suffering a traumatic brain injury in 2011. Luke is truly an inspiration, not only for other TBI people but for anyone fighting the odds. He has never given up on regaining his mobility and independence, and it is his strong will and determination that has seen him achieve to date, what the medical profession describe as a miracle. A filter that was inserted into Luke to prevent blood clots has moved and is not only causing incredible pain but is a potential time bomb. The filter should have been removed, it wasn't. In the US they remove these routinely using endoscopic techniques, in Australia, it is life threatening open surgery. The chances of Luke surviving the surgery in Australia is not great, HE NEEDS OUR HELP. I know what it is like to lose a child, as many other people out there do, PLEASE help SOS help Luke so another family do not have to live with this incredible heartache. Dr William Kuo an Interventional radiologist at Stanford Health Care in the US can remove Luke's filter on the 21st of September 2015.
