Rob has been in and out of the hospital over the last two years. He suffers from complications from diabetes, which has caused end stage renal disease (kidney failure). He also has spinocerebellar ataxia and is wheelchair-bound for the last year and a half. He lives off of a meager pension which he's earned from serving in the U.S . Navy. Unfortunately, his pension and medical insurance doesn't cover all of the medical bills and required medications. Rob applied for and was denied any assistance in any form of Social Security.
