Hi, for those of you who know me i am the moss lady who always shares pictures of moss.
those of you who don’t- i am the moss lady, who always shares pictures of moss.
the sharing of the moss pictures started when i became more unwell due to the fact moss doesn’t move very fast- neither do i. i have a progressive disease and am awaiting transplant, which while it will offer respite will not be a cure per se- nothing is guaranteed and sadly you can’t plan transplant surgery due to needing a donor. during the past few years i have predictably declined (not helped by Covid) which means while i am still working toward transplant, i am also having palliative care.
a few years ago i managed to raise enough money to pay for travel, accommodations (the transplant centre is over 100 miles away) medications etc- i had to stop working due to illness and being disabled is very expensive.
i am at the end of my medically ‘expected’ scale and while i would really love to defy expectations i have to remain realistic. i raised enough money to help pay for the necessary expenses over the past three years but i still need to pay for my funeral. i avoided this so far because, well, y’know.
i want to make sure this is covered for my families sake as it is just myself, my kids and my husband. We don’t have anyone else and i need it in place for the next stage of my treatment. unfortunately assessment found two issues in my kidneys and gallbladder which need fixing prior to transplant and time is ticking away. yay.
the cost of a direct cremation (whereby you get cremated and have your ashes delivered home) is just under £1500, i have rounded it up because of any extras (certificates or doctors notes needed).
i know it is a time when a lot of people are struggling and i am loathe to ask but to push on with the transplant process, i need this in place in case the worst happens. (The assessment for transplant is super stressful and I don’t recommend it at all 1/5 stars).
thank you for reading and please treasure your health as it really is your one true gift, other than moss of course.
