PST Community Support Fund

The COVID-19 crisis has caused all of us to reevaluate so much of what we have taken for granted in our lives. It has brought sharply into focus our need to put our common humanity before self-interest, while giving us the opportunity to become more adaptable, present, and compassionate. It has deepened our understanding of the undeniable fact that we are a small, interconnected world and we all depend upon each other.

With the safety and well-being of our students, their families, and our host communities around the world in mind, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the majority of our programs abroad this summer. Each summer, many Putney programs collaborate with people and communities around the globe, contributing directly to these communities through infrastructure projects and local spending. Putney students live in a host community where they work in collaboration with local people, immerse themselves in a different culture, and return home with newfound understandings and perspectives.

Although we can’t travel to our host communities this summer, we are committed to finding meaningful ways to support our partners,  friends, and families abroad during these difficult times. Standing with our host communities around the world, this summer we are launching the Putney Student Travel Community Support Fund. The Fund will provide financial support to our host communities and long-term partners abroad. Your donation supports local people who depend on Putney’s engagement and goes directly to the communities that have changed our students’ lives each summer for decades.

We welcome donations of any amount toward (or surpassing!) our preliminary goal to raise $25,000 by September 1, 2020. You can make your donation securely through our GoFundMe page. Although your donation is not tax-deductible, 100% of every dollar received goes directly to support Putney’s host communities abroad.

Please join us as we focus this summer’s efforts on giving back to the communities who have given us so much. Thank you for your generosity.
