"When families scrape by, enriched learning like the Putnam becomes a pipe dream. But when they got the chance to learn at the Putnam , I saw my students’ eyes come wide… and they started to dream big. One said she couldn’t wait for college. Another expressed the desire to design something that would one day land on Mars. These young people will do amazing things, but they need a chance to peek behind the door — to dream of the bigger and better world they can make for themselves. The Putnam gives them that chance!” — 6th Grade TeacherBy the time children reach 6th grade, those growing up in poverty have participated in 6,000 fewer hours of enrichment learning activities than middle-class youngsters.
How much does this matter? Lack of enrichment puts young people at a significant disadvantage as they strive to be successful in school and beyond. Right now, you can help us close this glaring gap and double your impact.
The Community Foundation of the Great River Bend (CFGRB) has selected the Putnam for one of just five challenge grants. CFGRB will award us $15,000 if we can secure $15,000 in new/increased donations — BY DECEMBER 31, 2018.
The generosity of families living in our community has pushed us closer toward our goal. Still, we have a ways to go with our goal, and we need your help to reach it.
Your gift will help open low-income children’s eyes to opportunity-rich futures
