Put the Guns Down: Before One More Life Is Taken

Gun violence is stealing our loved ones.
Not just in one city. Not just from one community. But everywhere.
We are losing sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters every single day—many before they ever have a chance to live. Terry C. Carney, Sr. knows this pain. He’s lived it. He’s seen it. And now, he’s using his voice to stop it.
Put the Guns Down: A World Epidemic is more than a documentary. It’s a cry for help from communities that have been silenced for too long. Executive produced by hip-hop legend Ice-T, this powerful film doesn’t point fingers—it exposes the truth:
We cannot address gun violence without addressing mental health.
This isn’t about politics. It’s about people. It’s about our children. It’s about who we’re losing—and why.
Terry has already been honored with the 2025 TAF Humanitarian Award and the 2025 DVL Icon Award—powerful acknowledgments of his impact and unwavering commitment to social change.
But Terry’s work isn’t about accolades. It’s about saving lives. And the need is far from over.
What will make a difference is making sure this film reaches the nation—because every community is impacted, and no one is immune.
We’re raising $100,000 to launch a nationwide campaign that includes:
- Social media, streaming, radio, and TV ads to drive awareness
- Community screenings that open space for healing and dialogue
- National press outreach to elevate the urgency of this movement
- PSA content that centers real families, real grief, and real hope
In addition to raising awareness, a portion of these funds will also provide direct support to families impacted by gun violence—including assistance with burial costs for victims’ loved ones and scholarships for children whose lives have been directly affected by senseless shootings. Whether they’ve lost a parent, a sibling, or are survivors themselves, these kids deserve the chance to heal, grow, and thrive despite their trauma.
The roots of gun violence run deep. Behind every bullet is often pain, trauma, untreated mental illness, poverty, broken homes, or simply someone who never learned another way.
Whatever the reason, the result is the same: another life taken, another family shattered, and another community left to mourn, rebuild, and carry the weight of a loss that should have never happened.
The first film in the 12-part Put the Guns Down: World Epidemic series is now streaming on Peacock, Prime Video, Google TV, and Apple TV.
