Put science in the spotlight in primary schools
Donation protected
Hello, I'm Reg, an environmental scientist working across the UK and Ireland.
I started Kingfishers Citizen Science around 6 months ago to help put science in the spotlight in primary schools and give children the opportunity to contribute to global datasets and cutting edge research!
This can directly benefit the health of their local environment and by extension, the health and knowledge of communities...getting involved, collecting data, appreciating and caring for our natural assets by highlighting environmental issues at a community level. Because nobody knows local rivers and streams better than the people who live around them.
I have joined the global FreshWater Watch network set up by the environmental charity, Earthwatch Europe, who provides citizen scientists with training in water monitoring and the water testing kits. I have partnered with Exeter Science Centre and collaborated with Greenpeace Research Laboratories to extend the reach of the project and utilise the best analytical expertise and instrumentation. All this will create a citizen science project that prepares the next generation of scientists and improves the wellbeing of local communities.
To help the project through it's pilot stages we are looking to raise £1000 to provide equipment such as microscopes and test kits for schools in underprivileged areas.
Do you want to help prepare tomorrows scientists AND benefit a community's wellbeing and understanding of their local watercourse?
If so, please donate to cause and help us get the project to a stage where we can access many more funding sources and expand the project even further. All funds raised on GoFundMe will be held with Exeter Science Centre for the purchase of test kits and resources for the Kingfishers CS project.
