It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I have to share this.
I knew the time was coming, but you never really know when their last day will be.
Those who know me, know my dog, Prince. He’s been with me for almost 15 years and has impacted so many lives. He’s been my emotional support animal through every high and low, every illness I’ve battled, every breakup, every move, and even through pregnancy. He was not only my best friend, but also became my son's best friend too.
Prince has always been the best, most well-behaved pup—I seriously couldn’t have asked for a better dog.
He’s struggled with hip and ear issues for years. He had surgeries on both when he was younger, and we were told his hips would eventually give out.
Yesterday, he wasn’t able to get up at all. He groaned in pain when he tried. We had to physically lift him by putting our arms under his belly to carry him outside and hold him up so he could use the bathroom. He did eat and drink last night.
However, today, he hasn’t been able to get up even with assistance. He can’t control his bladder, has been wetting himself, and hasn’t moved much. He’s also not showing interest in food or water. It seriously breaks my heart to see him try to get up and not be able to.
The animal hospital has told us there’s nothing they can do due to his age, and the most compassionate option now is to put him down and let him rest in peace.
I’m asking for help. Unfortunately, I recently broke my hand and wrist, had surgery, and have been out of work this past month. I’m already struggling to make ends meet and I don’t have the funds to cover the cost of medical euthanasia and cremation.
Anything helps—even if all you can do is share this.
I just want my Princeypoo to be out of pain and discomfort, and to rest peacefully.
Thank you in advance for any support, from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
