Lay my sister to rest with our Dad
Donation protected
Hi there, my name is Jacqueline, I recently have been helping my sister Roxanne with her recovery from addiction. For the last 13 years she has been caught in the terrible world of addiction and she finally committed herself to the chance to get clean. After 40 days of sobriety, sadly she relapsed, as many do, but unfortunately, she lost the battle this time and passed away in my home. I was so proud of her, and she was doing so well, she had even begun the process of reconnecting with her children. We had so many plans, I am heartbroken that none of it will ever come to be.
We lost our parents at a young age; my siblings and I been struggling ever since. Throughout the years, I’ve been able to keep it together and be a good support system for my siblings. You could say I took on the role of mother for my siblings while parenting my own children! One of my sisters last requests to me was that if she didn't survive her addiction that she wanted to be laid to rest with my dad. I have her ashes with me and need to raise funds so that I can travel from Duncan, BC to Ottawa, Ontario to honour her wishes.
I don’t ask for handouts but I'm really hoping that if a few dozen people can find it in their hearts to help me that I will be able to lay my sister to rest with my dad and then begin my healing journey.
When this is all taken care of and I can start my healing journey I plan on starting to reach out to the homeless, bring them sandwiches and food, really connect with them to remind them that they are people with value and to show them that are people that care, and change is possible! My sister felt hopeless and invisible for many years, this is the best way that I can honour her memory. Your kindness and generosity is appreciated. If you can't help financially, please help by sharing the link to this fundraiser.
Any funds raised will be used to purchase airfare and should there be any remaining funds after the ticket purchase, I will use the rest of the funds for outreach to support those with addiction and homelessness struggles.
