“PUSH THROUGH” - Proudly Supporting LIVIN

Donation protected

G’day, my name is Jarrad (Joey) Young from the glorious Gold Coast, Queensland and I’m 43 yearold.  I work as an Accountant (Director at Cordner Advisory)Father of 2 beautiful children and am a multiple Guinness push-up record holder (most push-ups in 1 hour at 3054 and most clap push-ups in 1 hour at 1164).

My next goal is to attempt to break the Guinness record for the most push-ups in 12 hours (currently 19,325).  This is a long-standing record held by Paddy Doyle in the UK over 32 years ago.  During this same attempt I’ll also look to attain the most push-ups in 8 hours which has a benchmark of 14,000 to surpass.  This attempt will take place at the burgeoning Aquis Gold Coast Turf Club (whereby I’m honoured to be one of the Directors) on Saturday 2nd October 2021 whilst the horse races are on.   I’ll be in the public area and all the support during the attempt would be greatly appreciated and will certainly help and give me strength and motivation.

Leading up to the event, and on the day, I’m looking to fundraise for the reputable Gold Coast based Charity LIVIN, who support a worthy cause close to my heart around “breaking the stigma of mental health”.  This is a very relevant cause in the current Covid-stricken era, and at times we all have our mental challenges to differing degrees.  But it is most concerning that a fair few of us would have family and/or friends who suffer mental demons that severely impact their ongoing happiness and health.

Specifically, I’ll be raising funds to support LIVIN's fantastic mental health educational programs (mainly targeted at young people through schools and workplaceswhich includes providing information on warning signs of mental health challenges; and providing practical and effective strategies to help yourself and those around you that may be struggling at times.

I’m a big advocate that through regular exercise, healthy food choices and engaging in social groups assists to combat mental health issues and results in a happier life!

I hope my push-up attempt can inspire some young people to decrease their time looking at their phones; open up and engage in conversations with supportive groups and friends about their mental health issues as they arise (#Itaintweaktospeak); and partake in regular exercise and make healthy food choices to ensure you’ll be better equipped to “PUSH THROUGH” when times get a bit tough!
