Pushing Our Luck

Donation protected
Hello! I'm Simon, and I'm doing a challenge in April to raise money for the Clapham International Film Festival. Each and every day of April I will do 100 push-ups in order to raise awareness and funds for our festival.

CIFF is is a film festival that helps provide opportunities for filmmakers have their work screened, make impactful professional connections and learn from cutting edge masterclasses. Last year we gave work experience opportunities to 18 volunteers, screened 24 films from 14 different countries to our local audience, ran 4 professional masterclasses, put on 5 networking events for participants and sold around 200 tickets.

We've done all of this off our own back, and we have funded things like cinema rentals and marketing through the submission fees we generate and our ticket sales.

This November we are expanding our event to four days, with an exciting program of films already starting to emerge. We've begun partnering with local film schools to offer professional experience and opportunities, and are doing our best to build Clapham's filmmaking community, including starting to run monthly short film nights.

We hope to raise enough money so that we can get some help putting it on, helping with design and marketing work whilst also having the resource to book more screenings and opportunities for filmmakers from the local area and much further afield.

So, in April I'm going to do 100 push-ups per day as some kind of representation of the task at hand. I'm not necessarily looking forward to it, but it's happening and here we are.

All donations go to the running costs of the festival. You can find out more about CIFF on ciff.uk and follow along our escapades on @ciff.uk on instagram.

Thank you for reading, and if you decide to donate to our cause, thank you so much!
