Lung Transplant Listing
Donation protected
Thanks to so many of you who contributed before, I’m officially accepted in the lung transplant program at Columbia Presbyterian NY, however, I’m not on the list yet. My lung capacity was determined to be 37%. I need to be between 21-25% to get listed. You got me this far. You gave me hope. You helped me see that I truly do belong to a Village. You made me smile. You got me riding on a scooter to appointments I couldn’t walk because my legs have gotten too weak. And while I’m not yet on the list, this year’s needs are the same. I start testing again next month. Your support was invaluable to me before, but I need to ask you to go a step further now! 2022 has new challenges. I’m a sitting duck waiting with the same requirements. Copays, oxygen tank service, caregiver costs, and final eviction fees for the judgement won against non paying tenants (my only source of income) were beyond our previous goals. They’ve stopped me in my tracks. I’m so close that I start anti rejection meds next week, but I can’t make a move. I can’t get angry. I can’t cry or overreact. I can only ask for help again. For me, asking is the difficult part. If it’s not too difficult for you to give again, please do.
