#PURPLEWARRIOR Medical Expenses
Hello and Hafa Adai!
My name is Conrad Mejia and I have been diagnosed with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) on January 26, 2019 and have been hospitalized since then.
It is a rare auto-immune disease that is destroying my blood platelets and I run the risk of spontaneous internal bleeding.
I have been receiving great treatment by the wonderful Doctors, Nurses, and staff here at the Guam Regional Medical Center and we have gone through all the steps required to treat my disease, however, it has come time to perform a splenectomy (removal of the spleen) as soon as possible. The doctors here would like to send me off as soon as Friday, February 8, 2019 to the Good Samaritan in Los Angeles.
I am reaching out to humbly ask for assistance to reach my destination. All donations are to go towards airfare and accommodations while in LA and would greatly help my family and myself.
This has been an eye opening journey and I definitely plan to give back to the community when I am fully recovered and back on Guam. ITP is a lesser known auto-immune disease that typically affects children and cases are rising on Guam.
When I return, I vow to do all that I can to raise awareness for all my fellow #PURPLEWARRIORS!
