Purple Grooves - Short Film

Donation protected
My name is Julie Peley, I am a 3rd year graduate student from France at the University of Miami. I am co-producing "Purple Grooves", a script written by Larry Flores II, a very talented screenwriter from my program.

The film tells a story about stolen childhood, innocence, and the tumultuous relationship between a father and a son, when boundaries between work and personal relationship are nothing but blur...

Through this story, we want to raise awareness towards how precious innocence and freedom is for each and every child. We also want to condemn child abuse and this idea that kids would be less important because they aren't grown-ups yet.

Synopsis: Byron “the Soul Surgeon” Williams Jr. is a young funk prodigy who, by his father’s “determination”, is placed in a man’s world due to his talent. Byron sits in his dressing room during the start of his concert where his hundreds of fans chant his name. He’s reached superstardom at the ripe age of 14, yet life moves too fast for him. He’s just a child.

How does Byron Jr. handle this sudden celebrity? Codeine and trains.

What happens when we strip somebody’s childhood from them?

We watch the breakdown of the relationship between Byron Jr. and his father and see just how far you can push someone until they break.

We need your support to make this project come to life!
