PURPLE DEATH & PARTY HATS

Hello! My name is Dante Jigamian. I am a filmmaker originally from Seattle, currently studying writing/directing at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California.

When I was a kid, my older brother was my hero. He still is. But I was too young and naive to see what was happening to him. Giancarlo struggled with depression from a very young age, and eventually, it seemed that numbing his pain with drugs was his only relief. In February of 2020, a month before the Covid-19 Pandemic, my brother would lose his life to a fentanyl overdose. My parents and I were lost. Sometimes I think we always will be, on some level. But, if I wasn’t able to translate my grief and pain into something meaningful, something that helps me, and hopefully anyone else, understand themselves just a little bit more, I don’t know where I’d be.

My short film will use dark comedy to highlight the pure absurdity that is living with addiction. Sarah, our main character, takes us through her day-to-day life in the style of a prescription drug commercial. But, as the film progresses, the curtain gets pulled back, until a pivotal moment that flips everything we’ve seen on its head.

I ask you, humbly and with immense appreciation, to please show whatever support you can to this project. Every single dollar helps, whether it's to feed the beautiful cast & crew I will be lucky to work with, or paying for lights and equipment that will take this project to the next level.

Thank you for taking the time to hear about my little project. I hope it can mean as much to you as it means to me.
