Purley on Thames CC is a thriving cricket club at the heart of the local community. We are proud to be home to a rapidly growing junior section as well as no less than 5 senior sides, playing both competitive and friendly cricket of all standards.
We, like everyone else, find ourselves in challenging times in the face of the Covid-19 crisis. Frontline NHS staff and key workers across the country are working extremely hard to save lives and help us put food on the table, for which we owe them a huge debt of gratitude.
For the first time in the club's 52 year history, all cricket has been suspended indefinitely.
This is of course hugely disappointing, and throws up a number of financial challenges. Without our matchday sources of revenue coming in and no fundraising events possible, we will struggle to cover the numerous expenditures we incur regardless of any cricket being played.
We appreciate many people's personal finances will be impacted by this crisis and fully understand those who find themselves unable to contribute.
This is why we've decided to start an appeal to which players, parents, friends, family and anyone in the wider cricketing community can contribute to recognise the fantastic work we do at Purley on Thames Cricket Club and help us achieve financial stability in these testing times.
We hope that with your help, we will come back even stronger from this and continue to facilitate hundreds of people playing the sport they love at the beautiful Goosecroft.
With your help, the future looks brighter than ever.
Thank you,
Purley on Thames CC Committee
