Purgatoire Valley Goat Head Festival
Please consider making a financial contribution to the first ever Purgatoire Valley Goat Head Festival taking place in Trinidad, Colorado Monday June 14 - Saturday June 19th!

The Purgatoire Valley Goat Head Festival is a week of activities hell-bent on ridding Las Animas County of the Goat Headed Scourge (also known as bindii, bullhead, burra gokharu, bhakhdi, caltrop, small caltrops, cat's-head, devil's eyelashes, devil's-thorn, devil's-weed, puncture vine, tackweed and more)!

This is a one week festival consisting of afternoon meetups (at 5 PM) along the Trinidad River Trail where attendees are encouraged to find and collect goat head plants. There will be food provided by local restaurants and music performed by local musicians each night of the week. The only cost to participants is that they must provide at lease ONE GOAT HEAD PLANT that they have removed from the ground during the Goat Head Fest! Whether they are pulling them from their own yard, the river trail, or one of our evening events, we want to see community members doing their part to eliminate this noxious weed!

Saturday we will highlight the Purgtoire Watershed Partnership's monthly Vegetation Management Event which encourages community members to come down to the river every third Saturday of the month (at 10 AM) to remove invasive plant species that damage our watershed and river trail.
This will be a moving festival that follows a giant Goat Head Sculpture from place to place along the Trinidad River Trail! On Saturday evening we will take all of the goat head plants gathered up throughout the week, fill the sculpture with them and throw a large Goat Head Bonfire at Club 14 at 8 PM!
