Send Two Cyclists to Collegiate Nationals

Two of PCC’s top cyclists are fundraising to go to Collegiate Road Nationals. Each of these members has shown dedication to cycling and their communities along with having shown great potential in terms of cycling ability and character - they truly are the best representation that PCC could ask for to compete at Nationals.

Nationals will take place in Albuquerque, NM between May 5th and 7th. This consists of 3 days of racing: a time trial on Friday, a road race on Saturday, and a crit race on Sunday. The cost to send each athlete is roughly $1500. Therefore, we are looking for additional support of $3,000 to send each of these amazing athletes to collegiate nationals... to represent our school, Indiana, and cycling on the collegiate national stage!

Funds will be used for airfare, car rental, food, gas, and race registration fees. Any additional funds provided will be used for future club racing and events!

I picked up cycling in the summer of 2021 to socialize and develop fitness. Since then, my love for the sport grew as I began working at a bike shop and going to some of the local group rides. When I joined PCC, I was quickly humbled by the skill level of riders at Purdue and began to develop training habits so I could become faster. Last spring was my first season of collegiate racing, and it was a lot of fun. I worked with Lunden and my other teammates on race tactics and built camaraderie within the club. For me, this season of racing comes with another year of focused training and experience, as well as a category upgrade which will allow me to race at collegiate nationals in May. It would be an honor to represent Purdue at nationals and race against some of the fastest students in the country. It would certainly be the highlight of my collegiate cycling career!

I've been racing since I was 12 years old... so naturally, in my competitive nature, I wanted to go to nationals when I came to Purdue. However, COVID put a wrench in my collegiate nationals dream... it halted all racing, riding, and interactions. I couldn't upgrade to perform on the largest collegiate stage in the nation. However, one of the biggest lessons I've learned at Purdue is perseverance in the face of adversity - and I did it, all in one year of racing. This is my last year at Purdue, and my last opportunity to race collegiately before graduation. I put in the miles... time... blood, sweat and tears... just to have a shot at entering. Now, I ask for your support, to help us reach our goal of $3000 to not only achieve my dream of racing nationally, but to realize it fully with Jonathan, and live our lives the way it was intended to be lived - every day.
