Purdue Alpha Sigma Phi Grand Prix

Since Purdue Grand Prix’s first race on May 17, 1958, Grand Prix has been a lasting tradition and a cornerstone of “students helping students”. Today, Purdue Grand Prix consists of 33 teams with karts that participate in a 160-lap (50-mile) race. The Grand Prix Foundation has been, is, and will be an epicenter for the community at Purdue University and fundraising to provide scholarships for students.

We look forward to yet another great year in the Purdue Grand Prix, but the cost of racing is no small amount and is always on the rise. This is why we are reaching out to you; we wish to grow our success each year. With your support, the quality and performance of our equipment will be enhanced through multiple means: by testing numerous tire compounds to improve the overall traction of the kart, increasing the handling of the kart through improvements in the all-wheel braking system, and discovering many more techniques for enhancing kart performance. We also will be rerunning two karts which require more funding.

Not only is the Grand Prix about competing, but it is also about learning lifelong skills and having fun. Students who participate learn what it is like to function as a team. The team learns to adjust anything from high and low ends on the carburetors to the castor and camber of the front end. This is an experience that cannot be acquired anywhere else and offers invaluable preparation for internships and job opportunities.

All donations will go to various materials and costs required to make this year's Grand Prix as successful as possible. Some of the items include, but are not limited to, the following:

Tires and Drill Blocks

Radio Equipment

Clutch and clutch accessories

Transponder subscriptions

Kart maintenance and rebuilding
