Purchase the bakery building

Hi! I'm Alicia and I own Greenwoodes Farm Bakery in Hansville. I've been part of the Hansville community for 24 years. I started Greenwoodes Farm Bakery in 2015 selling at local farmers' markets. In 2019 we were able to move into our current building in Hansville across from Norweigan Point Park and next door to the post office. It's been wonderful to be one of the few businesses with a storefront in Hansville. Connecting with full-time neighbors and seasonal visitors enjoying freshly baked bread and pastries is always a treat!
In 2021 we expanded from a small storefront to the entire bottom floor of the building. It's been great to have more space to offer eat-in options and we added a bottle shop featuring wine from small producers as well as more grab-and-go options for hot meals and snacks.
As many of you know, we are renters in this building and got quite nervous when the building was recently put up for sale because there are very limited options for retail spaces in Hansville. To stay in Hansville we really only had one option - try to buy the whole building. Quite a daunting endeavor for a small business to consider such a large purchase but it had to be done. After many months of exploring options to finance the purchase, I am delighted to say that we have found a way to make it work! We expect to close on the purchase of our current building this spring and will have a permanent home here in Hansville. It's exciting! But still a little daunting.
As many of you have offered to help support the bakery over the years I am here now asking for your help as I take this big leap forward. The initial downpayment for the building is a hefty sum: $150,000. Any contributions this community can make to help finance our permanent home and the related expansion of the business here in Hansville will be deeply appreciated. Once the purchase of the building is finalized I am excited to explore expanding our business hours and some of our product offerings so we can continue to be a thriving local gathering spot.
