Hello, my name is Michael Routledge and I am a Parent Governor at St James C of E Junior School in Whitehaven.

I am raising funds for the school to help reduce some of the burdens placed on them by ever increasing funding constraints. This money will be given to the school as a donation and will be distributed as they see fit to help purchase equipment and supplies for the school.

I am extremely proud to be a volunteer at the School as a Governor as they are currently delivering excellent results with children (one of the children being my own) from all backgrounds excelling with results in all categories, and being generally above local and national standards. I want to do every thing I can to help them maintain this moving forward. Even if it is just a little bit of money towards equipment to reduce their financial headaches.

Schools are not considered Charities normally, hence the Go Fund Me page.

Now, I don't want your money for nothing, I would understand the question "schools are government funded aren't they?" and I do genuinely find it difficult asking people to help, so I have decided to take on a few challenges to help pry the money from your accounts. I will be doing the following between now and the start of the next School year:

June 21st - Gelt Gladiator

July 6th - The Sea Wall 7 Miler

July 25th - 27th - Three Peaks Challenge

I am also currently training in BJJ at West Cumbria BJJ and Judo at SanKaiKuni in St bees and I am working towards my Blue and Brown belts respectively.

Should I achieve either of these before the school year starts I will donate £25 of my own money per belt, should I fail to belt up in either I will donate £50 per belt.

I will also be looking to enter competitions in both and for every match I win will donate £10 and for every on I lose will donate £20. Entry to these however is subject to me not being injured and the events are occasionally cancelled.

Bear in mind, I am now fat, old and have maybe 2 fully operational joints. So this will be difficult for me, bordering on stupid.
