My name is Sandra Vaslett-Adams. I am writing on behalf of my son, Winston, who is 38 years old and has cerebral palsy. Winston requires 24-hour care and uses a custom wheelchair for part of his day. We rely on a ceiling lift/hoist to transfer him safely between his bed and wheelchair.

A few weeks ago, the lift overheated and stopped working. We sent it for repairs, but the lift was purchased in 2007 and many parts are now obsolete or prohibitively expensive. Funding through Special Assistance programs will not cover the cost of a replacement. A new ceiling lift costs $3,550.00.

Without a working lift, Winston is now bed-bound, which has a severe impact on his mobility, health, and quality of life. We are seeking financial assistance by way of donations to help cover the cost of a new lift.
