As many of you know, Toby has been suffering with collapsing lungs for the past 18 months. He’s undergone three surgeries under the care of the Evelina Children’s Hospital in London.
On his most recent visit, consultants at the Evelina have ‘borrowed’ a mobile chest drain from Guy’s hospital (the first time this has happened at the Evelina), enabling Toby to move around whilst being treated, when he has previously been bed bound. Getting up and about has no doubt helped Toby’s lung recover and meant he has been a little less stir crazy than normal!
This magic piece of kit is called a Thopaz machine and has only just been consented for use in children.
The machines cost just shy of £700 and I’d love to be able to gift the hospital the funds to purchase one for use in the children’s wards here at the Evelina. A little way of saying thank you to them for everything they have done for Toby whilst he’s been under their care. I hope for any children in the future who suffer with the same problems, the machine can be used to make their stay a little easier.
All of you, my family and friends have been so supportive and always ask ‘Is there anything we can do?’ Well, now’s your chance. If you can spare anything towards this little fundraiser of mine then please do; I know how much it would mean to the hospital and to us. Thank you
