Boeing's Emergency Medical Care (Miller family)

Boeing came into our lives as an 8-week-old cotton ball who from the beginning, did not want to be in a crate but sit in the front seat of the car. He has been driving us with his loyalty, love, antics, and worries since the day we brought him home. He has been our four-legged kid who keeps our home from being empty. He entertains us, demands attention from us, and keeps us from being a sedentary family. Boeing was also one of the groomsmen/dogs at our wedding, and he is a fierce guard dog, defending our family home every day and night, with his tail wagging to any who may enter.
A few weeks ago, we noticed Boing licking a bug bite on his lower abdomen, right near his manly pee spout. Well, the licking went on till he was bleeding, so we took him to our local Veterinarian. The Vet examined Boeing and found that it was not an irritating bug bite, but a mass. Scary words when you hear a “mass or possible tumor”. So, we hit the ground running in fear, off we went to 3 different Veterinary Clinics, getting MRIs, Ultrasounds, as well as 3 different biopsies’, trying to find out what this thing was.
Finally, the news was delivered, Cancer. He had a Cancer mass between his testicles and his penis. An area that no local Vet, we could find, felt confident enough to remove. We were informed that the area of the Cancer tumor is full of blood vessels and nerves, as well as the urethra. Doing the wrong thing in that area could stop him from ever being able to urinate again. So, after much research in the state of Florida, we found a Specialty Clinic (BluePearl) in Tampa, (a 3-hour drive away). BluePearl is a Specialty Clinic that has a surgical team who were confident they could remove Boeing’s tumor. The process of removing the mass would also include a complete penectomy (penis removal), as well as Boeing being neutered, and he was to come out the other side “peeing like a girl” and Cancer free.
And then there was the cost, $12,000. (Yup, and we already had some debt with taking him to local Vets and getting all the tests done.) BluePearl stated that this surgery had to be done, and the mass needed to come out. They also told us Boeing was a very healthy dog, and the outcome looked good. So, we did what we had to do, we drove him back to Tampa, gave him hugs & kisses & sent him back into Surgery. That was one month ago, and the Vet bills are still climbing. The surgeon was able to remove the Cancer mass, along with its 24 tentacles, and reroute his urethra. They felt the surgery was a success, but now Being is having a difficult time learning how to pee again. It’s been horrible for him, he tries to go, but the body/brain connection is not happing the way it should. We are not giving up on him! We now drive him weekly to BLuePearl and they place a catheter in him to see if the pipes are open, each trip costs us another $400. in Vet bills, but we must keep trying.
So, to say the least between the surgery, medicine and many trips to Tampa the bills are adding up, insanely. Boeing is not just our dog, he is part of our family, and we are not giving up on him. We thank you for any contribution or prayers you may give. He is worth so much in our hearts. We think positively and continue to have hope. Thank you, - Boeing’s people family
